Neither question tells you what actually has to go inside the record, and that is where a programme's real cost lives. This module sorts passport content into categories, separates who is allowed to see each category, and turns "do we have this data" from an assumption into something you audit. **Estimated completion time: 35 minutes.** Three lessons of 9 minutes each, plus a ten question assessment of about 8 minutes. ## Learning Objectives #### Module learning objectives Every objective is tested. Each assessment question is tagged to one of the four. ## Lesson Sequence Then take the [module assessment](/docs/academy/foundations/module-3/assessment). ## Canonical Reading This module teaches from two canonical articles. The articles are the authoritative text and remain free and open to everyone: * [What Information Does a Digital Product Passport Contain?](/docs/knowledge-base/digital-product-passports/what-information-does-a-digital-product-passport-contain) * [What Data Goes in a Digital Product Passport?](/docs/knowledge-base/digital-product-passports/what-data-goes-in-a-digital-product-passport) The lessons add sequence, framing, examples and practice. They do not restate the regulatory content, and they never introduce a date, article number or citation that is not in the source articles. ## Frameworks Used **TBF-003, The Product Information Readiness Model.** Introduced in Lesson 1. Groups passport content into six categories so an organisation can assess where each one originates, who owns it, and how ready it is to publish. **TBF-042, The Passport Data Origin Model.** Introduced in Lesson 3. Separates whether an attribute exists anywhere in the extended organisation, whether it exists in a queryable structured form, and whether it has a named owner. Full descriptions in the [framework registry](/docs/knowledge-base/frameworks/overview). ## The Running Case Product Every Foundations module uses one product so the examples accumulate rather than reset. **The Aurelia S2 cordless hedge trimmer.** A mid-price consumer power tool with a removable lithium-ion battery pack, a moulded polymer housing, and a woven textile shoulder strap. It is manufactured under contract in Vietnam and imported into the EU by the brand owner's Dutch entity. This module uses it to show what a passport content audit actually finds: three conflicting internal identifiers, composition data held by a contract manufacturer who has never been asked, roughly a third of attributes sitting in the product data system and a third as PDFs on a shared drive, and a completed QR pilot that resolves to nothing more than the marketing page. ## Completion The module is complete when all three lessons are marked complete and the assessment is passed at the Foundations pass mark of 80 percent. Retakes are unlimited and your best score is kept. Progress is saved on this device. ## Next Step After the assessment, [Module 4: How a Passport Works in Practice](/docs/academy/foundations/module-4) moves from what the record must contain to how it is actually delivered and kept current once it exists. ## Related Docs * [Lesson 1: The Categories of Passport Data](/docs/academy/foundations/module-3/lesson-1) * [Module 3 assessment](/docs/academy/foundations/module-3/assessment) * [Module 4: How a Passport Works in Practice](/docs/academy/foundations/module-4) * [DPP Foundations](/docs/academy/foundations) * [What Information Does a Digital Product Passport Contain?](/docs/knowledge-base/digital-product-passports/what-information-does-a-digital-product-passport-contain) > The third module of the free tieback Academy DPP Foundations path: the categories of passport data, who sees which category, and how to audit what your organisation already holds against what has no owner. ## Docs - [Lesson 1: The Categories of Passport Data](https://tieback.io/docs/academy/foundations/module-3/lesson-1.md): Academy Foundations Module 3 Lesson 1: the six categories of Digital Product Passport content under the Product Information Readiness Model, and why treating passport data as one list stalls a programme. - [Lesson 2: Who Sees What](https://tieback.io/docs/academy/foundations/module-3/lesson-2.md): Academy Foundations Module 3 Lesson 2: why passport data is access controlled by user group, which audiences see which categories, and how to avoid the two failure modes of publishing too much or too little. - [Lesson 3: What You Already Hold, and What Has No Owner](https://tieback.io/docs/academy/foundations/module-3/lesson-3.md): Academy Foundations Module 3 Lesson 3: the Passport Data Origin Model, how to audit where each passport attribute actually lives, and why an attribute with no named owner is the finding, not a detail. - [Module 3 Assessment](https://tieback.io/docs/academy/foundations/module-3/assessment.md): Academy Foundations Module 3 summative assessment: ten scenario-weighted items covering the categories of passport data, access by audience, and auditing what your organisation holds against what has no owner.
