# Notifications

> How tieback surfaces operational events to brand members through the in-product feed, email, and the audit log, with per-member preferences.

The notifications system surfaces operational events to brand members so they don't have to monitor every workspace surface manually.

## Channels

| Channel             | What it is for                                                                                     |
| ------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **In-product feed** | The bell icon in the workspace header: actionable items, system messages                           |
| **Email**           | Higher-importance events that may need attention outside the app                                   |
| **Audit log**       | Every notification-worthy event is also recorded in the [audit log](/tenancy-governance/audit-log) |

## Event Categories

* **Member events**: invitations accepted, role changes, ownership transfers
* **Billing events**: subscription changes, invoice issued, payment failed, credit top-up confirmed
* **Mint events**: large batch completion, mint failures requiring attention
* **Passport governance**: break-glass amendment applied, revocation
* **Hostname events**: custom hostname verification status changes
* **Platform messages**: incident notices, maintenance windows

## Per-Member Preferences

Each member controls their own notification preferences from **Settings → Profile**. Workspace owners can set workspace-wide defaults but cannot override an individual member's explicit choice.
