What It Does

The Product Library is your central catalogue of every product registered in tieback. From here you can browse, search, filter, and open any product to view or edit its details.

Who It’s For

Brand administrators and team members with access to a brand workspace.

How It Works

Product Library

The library displays all products for the active brand in a sortable, searchable table. Key columns include:

  • Product name — localised display name.
  • SKU — the current active SKU identifier.
  • GTIN — the current active GTIN (barcode).
  • Commercial status — whether the product is active, discontinued, or in draft.
  • Mint readiness — a deterministic badge indicating whether the product meets all requirements for passport minting.

You can select one or more products (up to 100) to enter Bulk Edit mode.

Product Detail

Opening a product reveals its full record, organised into tabs and sections:

Product Identity

A fixed grid at the top of the detail page showing the core identifiers and status:

  • SKU — the current active SKU
  • GTIN — the current active GTIN (barcode)
  • Product Name — the display name
  • HS Code — Harmonised System classification code
  • Commercial Status — active, discontinued, or draft
  • Traceability Mode — the product’s traceability configuration
  • Last Updated At — read-only timestamp

Identifiers (SKU, GTIN, EAN, UPC) are edited in Product Detail, not in bulk workflows.

Attribute Sections

Below the identity grid, product attributes are organised into up to 15 sections driven by the DPP Field Catalogue — the master field dictionary for your brand’s industry classification. Sections include:

  1. Product Description — product description, intended use, target market, product branding
  2. Commerce & Variant — model number, style ID, colour, size, season
  3. Materials & Composition — materials summary, recycled content, fibre composition, lining, trims
  4. Environmental Performance — carbon footprint, water footprint, environmental notes
  5. Durability & Warranty — expected lifetime, warranty period
  6. Use, Repair & Reuse — repair availability, repair guides, spare parts, reuse guidance
  7. End of Life — disposal notes, recycling information, takeback programmes
  8. Compliance & Documentation — certifications, compliance declarations, documentation URLs
  9. Manufacturer & Origin — manufacturer name, country, design/assembly country, supply chain
  10. Care Instructions — care instructions text, care symbols
  11. Chemicals & Substances — restricted substances, substances of concern
  12. Access & Governance — visibility policy, last updated timestamp

Empty sections are displayed with a “No values set” placeholder — they are not hidden.

Additional Tabs

  • Custom Fields — brand-specific custom attributes defined by your team, displayed in a dedicated section. See Custom Fields.
  • Media & Documents — file attachments linked to the product
  • Batches — production batches associated with the product
  • Economic Operators — view, create, and edit economic operator records (manufacturers, importers, authorised representatives, facilities) associated with your brand
  • Identifier History — a full audit trail of every SKU and barcode change, partitioned into SKU history and Barcode history (GTIN, EAN, UPC)
  • Locked Fields — a read-only summary of fields protected from import-driven overwrites

Editing Products with Minted Passports

When you save changes to a product that already has minted passports, tieback displays a confirmation prompt:

Update future mints only? Your changes will apply to future mints only — previously issued passports remain unchanged. To correct historical passport data, use Controlled Update or Break Glass on the specific passport.

This is an informational confirmation, not a hard block. You can always proceed with the save. The product master remains a living template for future issuance; edits are never propagated retrospectively to existing passports.

Mint Readiness

A badge appears near the product title:

  • Ready to mint (green) — all required fields are populated and the product can proceed to passport minting.
  • Not ready to mint (neutral) — one or more required fields are missing.

Limits & Notes

  • The Product Library loads products for the currently selected brand only.
  • Identifier edits (SKU, GTIN, EAN, UPC) are always performed in Product Detail, never via bulk workflows.
  • Locked fields protect values from being overwritten during CSV or API imports; they do not prevent manual edits in the UI.
  • Product edits apply to future mints only. Existing passports are corrected via Controlled Update or Break Glass.

FAQ

Can I delete a product?

Product deletion is not currently supported. Products can be set to a discontinued commercial status instead.

What does the mint readiness badge check?

It evaluates whether all required DPP schema fields for your brand’s industry are populated and whether the commercial status is valid for minting.

Can I edit identifiers in the bulk edit view?

No. SKU, GTIN, EAN, and UPC are edited exclusively in the Product Detail page to preserve full audit history.

Does editing a product update existing passports?

No. Product edits apply to future mints only. Previously issued passports retain their original snapshot values. To correct historical data, use Controlled Update or Break Glass at the passport level.
